Jowett’s Little Garden, Trinity Lane

History of Jowett's Little Garden

This is the site of “Jowett’s Little Garden”. Joseph Jowett LL.D (1752-1813) was Master of Trinity Hall.

He and the garden were immortalised by the epigram:

A little garden little Jowett made

And fenced it with a little palisade:

If you would know the mind of little Jowett

This little garden doth a little show it.

It marks the site of the original entrance to the college.
