George had changed his profession by 1901, when he is recorded on the census at the age of 73 as a tobacconist operating from a shop at 216 Mill Road, Cambridge. George died of cardiac failure following 21 days of pneumonia at 24 Ross Street, Cambridge on 12 August 1908. His wife, Elizabeth, died at the same address on 13 March 1910 (stomach cancer 7 months, asthenia 2 months). (Email from NS 2022)
