1 Bateman Street, St Minver Terrace
At the time of this census 1 Bateman Street was lived in by the Clark family. Joseph W Clark was a draper’s assistant; he had married in 1869 Emily Bellman at Croydon Common, Surrey. Her father, Vincent, had his family roots in Cornwall and had been born at St Minver in 1796. It seems very likely that the terrace in Bateman Street was named to commemorate this connection.
