1882 -1903 St Matthew’s Higher Grade Boys School, which had originally opened in Sturton Street in 1878.
1904 – 1931 it was the St Matthew’s Street Boys School before it amalgamated with Norfolk Street Girls’ to become a junior mixed and infants school in 1933.

Down Your Street, 1984, p.91 quotes section of the school log book for 1920 – 1931. There are frequent reference to “malt and oilk” boys attending clinics, and diptheria was prevalent.
