Head of household in 1901 is Charles Hewitt, a 54 year old retired Police Constable. Charles was born in Kimbolton and is married to Sarah (nee Chambers), 48, from Belchamp St. Paul in Essex. They previously lived at 29 Sturton Street.
The couple have four children living with them. Thomas Gilbert is 19 and a carter’s clerk, Ethel Emma is 18 and a bootmaker’s assistant. Beatrice Emily is 13 and Florence May is 7.
Thomas married Kate Avis in 1906. The couple can be found at 60A Hills Road in 1911 and then at 8 Norwich Street in 1939.
Charles died in 1909.
On the 1911 census Sarah is living with her daughters Ethel, now a boot shop assistant, Beatrice, a school teacher, and Florence a cashier. Sarah has recorded that she was married for 33 years and had eight children, three of whom have died.
Beatrice married James Reeve in 1915.
Florence married Sidney Coe in 1926. They are living on Coleridge Road in 1939 and Sidney is a Grocery Shop Branch Manager.
Sarah died in January 1929. Ethel lived with her sister Alice’s family at 25 Sturton Street for a few years.
