John William Pamment, b. 1876, Army Service Corps driver. A carman, he enlisted in 1904 as a 10 years reservist. In 1916 he contracted syphilis. On 16/10/17 he was absent from camp from 9.30 pm until 3 pm – punished with 7 days confinement to barracks.
Fred Pamment, b. 1899, enlisted 3/9/15 in 3rd Btn 1st Cambs Reg.
Bertie Pamment, b 1901, volunteered with the Red Cross from 1916-17 on hospital, convoy and air raid duty.
Leonard Albert French (b. 1914 Thetford) married Elsie Pamment in 1940. Leonard was the son of William Frederick and Mary Ann French of Thetford, Norfolk. He became a private in the 5th Battalion Suffolk Regiment. He died 22nd November 1943 and is buried in the Chungkai War Cemetery in Thailand. His presence at Chungkai is explained by the capture of so many of the Suffolk regiment at the fall of Singapore and there life as labourers held captive by the Japanese.
