This church took four years to build and was completed in 1965. Much of the building was done by local members who donated according to their means. About £16,000 came from the 280 local Mormons in annual tithes. The building cost £80,000 and incorporates a gymnasium, stage and large kitchen. It was Cambridge’s first Mormon church and at the time it was built was the latest of about 70 in the UK.
The architect, American L M Seeley, was interviewed in 1964 by the Cambridge News. “We finish a church every ten days in this country, and yet we are building only half as fast as we are converting people.”
