Listed Building
An early-mid C19 gault brick house.
This is the building referred to as the manse in Chapel Street in the anonymised account of evacuees in Ely in World War II, Destination Unknown by Margaret Saywell. The minister is depicted as Reverend Sharp. The writer is an Essex evacuee who calls herself Margaret. In the pamphlet, Destination Unknown, she moves from Littleport to Ely, from household to household until finding a couple in Barton Road who give her a warm welcome for the rest of the war.
