Korten, Baptist Chapel, Old Institute, Histon

History of the Baptist Chapel

1858 Baptist Chapel built. Foundation stone has the name of George Livett, draper and alderman who lived in Hills Road. Used as Baptist chapel until 1899 when new chapel built.

Used as Men’s Institute until village college opened. Old Institute continued as gymnasium, billiards and bowls centre. There were also two baths there which could be used for 1d. There were also concerts and meetings.

The men’s club eventually moved to Impington.
