Toll Farm, Mepal OS 1901

Laurie Rayner’s reminiscences are recorded in Mepal Vignettes (2005).

He was born at the Toll Gate on the Chatteris Road. he accidentally set light to a haystack in the farm yard when he was boy on Bonfire Night! He recalled barges bringin artificial manure to the farmers.
