Bridge House, Mepal

History of Bridge House

Ordnance Survey map snippet from 1901 showing the layout of buildings and fields near Mepal Bridge and Bridge House.

Bridge House, Mepal OS 1901

1904 house bought by Macer Atkin. It had been used as storage yard for clunch and coal, and there were lime kilns. One of the barns was dated 1756 and other buildings dated from that time.

Tony Atkin’s reminiscences are recorded in Mepal Vignettes (2005).
