Gault Hole, Mepal

History of Gault Hole

1901 Ordnance Survey map detail showing the Gault Hole depression, marked with field numbers and hatchings in Mepal.

Gault Hole OS 1901

Derek Martin’s reminiscences are recorded in Mepal Vignettes (2005). He says that the Casbon family lived in a cottage at Gault Hole for several years. It was an ideal place for wildfowling with a punt gun.
