History of Honeydew Cottage

According to Dora Tack in Whispering Elms:

Built of yellow bricks, thatches roof, 6 rooms

Stanley Gilbert (Stan or Gimp), agricultural worker for for Percy Pinner at Hill Farm

Ivy Gilbert née Haynes. Ivy wrote verses, painted, did needlework and played the piano and piano-accordion. before marriage she was in service at lattenbury Hall for the Sperling family Ivy died in 1976 aged 63.

Daphne Gilbert, daughter, partially deaf.

Iris, daughter,

Raymond, son b 1944

Honeydew Cottage was destroyed by fire 15th July 1945.

June Hall, her daughter

When Honeydew Cottage was burnt down, Mrs Olive Hall and her daughter June went to live at the home of Mrs Sarah Haynes.
