In 1861 James is living at 73 Russell Street.
1878
Alfred Parker and Eliza had three more children, Alice Maud in 1881, Walter in 1882 and Edith May in 1887. They are recorded as living at 48 Northampton Street in the parish of St Peter on the 1881 census, where Alfred’s occupation is stated as ‘groom’. Walter’s birth certificate states that he was born at 48 Northampton Street on 19 May 1882 and Edith May’s birth certificate shows that she was born at 65 Russell Street, Cambridge on 22 March 1887, all suggesting the Parker family moved frequently during this period. On 7 January 1891, Alfred and Eliza’s eldest son Frank Alfred, aged 12, was sentenced to detention at Desford Industrial School for Boys at Ratby, Leicestershire until the age of 16 by the Leicester School Board for ‘Truancy’. His admission form for the school states, “The authority considering that the boy was turning out a persistent truant that home influences owing to the mother is not what it should be in the interest of the boy desire him to be placed under proper discipline and control justices also concerned”. The family’s address was 38 New Street, Cambridge at the time. (Email from NS 2022)
