Number 72, otherwise known as Harley Cottage, built 1871, is a single property on the end of a terrace on the east side of Ainsworth Street.

The 1871 census records 21 inhabited houses in Ainsworth Street, plus another 9 under construction. However, they are not numbered, and at present it is not possible to identify all of them.

Charles Cornell is mentioned at the property in trade directories from 1953 and 1967.
The 1967 trade directory also mentions a business at no. 72A, likely around the corner on Ainsworth Place: Kershaw Heating & Plumbing, heating and sanitary engineers, plumbers sheet metal workers & welders.
