Lance Corporal Henry George Darkins of the Royal Fusiliers died of wounds on active service 11.6.1917 aged 32. This may have been during the Battle of Messines.

Roberta Owen was the great-niece of Robert Owen, the Victorian scientist. She lived in the basement and let rooms to students.
