Roger Harleston had his manor sacked during the Peasants’ Revolt of 1381.
Harleston manor was sold to Christ’s College, Cambridge in the C16th and the estate remained intact until after WWII.
Four generations of the Hall family leased the manor from 1801.
The initials on the chimney, T and AH, refer to Thomas and Anne Hall, who lived in the house after Christ’s built it in 1868.
The Lewin family took over the house in 1893; a chimney was struck by lightning 1909.
The house and some land was sold to Samuel Fletcher for £2,700 in the 1970s.
