According to Cottenham in Focus, 2002, George Hazel came to Cottenham in 1889 to keep a small shop in Garibaldi Terrace. He had previously worked as a tea blender in King’s Lynn. He moved to the shop in Telegraph Street circa 1900. He advertised his own blend of tea specially suited to Cottenham water.
