Listed Building
Fine house built in 1722. Wings attributed to Algenon Peckover (1803-1893) in 1878 but designed by Edward Boardman of Norwich. Original late C18 bank to west included in these C19 additions.
The hospital of the White Cross or the hospital of St John was founded before 1279. It was to support a community of 6 persons. By 1334 the Patronage of the hospital had passed to the Bishops of Ely, but in 1352 the hospital was seized by the King. He later regranted the site to one Kohn Franceys in 1375. It us probable that the carved stones in the garden of Peckover House are the only remains of the hospital buildings.
