Mrs Dear.

She was the mother of Michael Dear who managed Clive Vale nursery.

In Growing Up in Cambridge Alec Forshaw describes Mrs Dear as his ‘church friend’, the non-conformist equivalent of a godmother. She was shy and her house seemed cold and dark, but she always gave him Easter eggs and chocolate cigarettes at Christmas. She would baby-sit when his parents went to the theatre.
