In 1871 we know that the Dutt family were living here, Toru Dutt, her father Govind C Dutt, her mother Kshetramoni Dutt and her elder sister Aru Dutt. According to the research of P G Dutt they were travelling to get over the death of the eldest daughter Abjie Chunder Dutt who had died of TB in Calcutta. However both surviving daughters also eventually succumbed to TB.
