WP Spalding was the creator of Spalding’s guides from which a lot of information on this website is derived.
His son, Percy, became Town Clerk of the City of York – you can read more about Percy and the Spalding family and about the Goodliffe family (Martha Spalding née Goodliffe).
An unusual publication by Spalding was a book of cartoons titled Scrawls by an author who took the name Xit.
