Lucy Ellen Monk, niece, 20, laundry packer

Arthur James Monk enlisted  in the Suffolk Regiment and reached the rank of Lance-Sergeant. Before the war he had worked for the farmer Frank Doggett. His military record shows he was wounded 30.4.1915 at Ypres and two pieces of shrapnel were removed from his brain. He was wounded on 1st July 1916 on the Somme.

He died 8.9.1916 at the national Hospital, Queens Square.
