Digging Dandelions by Michael Rouse (2021) contains the reminiscences of living on East Fen Common, recalled by Blanche Looker née Goose in 1974. She was born near Loftus Bridge.

The Common had such a reputation for roughness that even after a road to Isleham was opened up through the Common, people preferred to take the long way round.
