George Downing Living FRS 1827-1924 was a chemist and spectroscopist. He was a Fellow of St Johns College and from 1911 until his death President of the college. He died on Boxing Day 1924 aged 97 as a result of being knocked down by a cyclist while walking to his laboratory,
