Pigott’s, the family ironmongers, was offered for sale after more than a century in business. Founded in 1863 by John Pigott, the company had operated shops in Sidney Street, Market Hill, Mill Road, Norfolk Street, Bridge Street and Hills Road. By 1985 the business was based in Victoria Road following the closure of several branches.
