History of 126 Wisbech Road
Thorney belonged to the Dukes of Bedford; by the end of the 19th century the Bedfords had built over 300 of the total 450 houses in the village. The school and other amenities were provided as well. Each cottage had a washhouse and toilets with earth closets.
