13 – 15 Covent Garden

History of 15 Covent Garden

(15) In 1876 this was the home of Robert Browning and his brother. On 24th August Robert met the prostitute Emma Rolfe at the Four Lamps and then murdered her on Midsummer Common. The inquest was held at the Fort St George.

This is the site of the original offices of Slingsby’s the builders. They built new offices in the 1980s at the other end of Covent Garden at Reuben House.
