Catherine Wheel, 14 High Street Barrington

History of 14 High Street

Listed building:

No. 14 formerly listed as Catherine Wheel) 22.11.67 GV II Cottage. Possibly late C17. Timber framed, roughcast rendered and long straw thatch, half hipped roof.

The group of cottages in the photo are supposed to have ben built for retired Cromwellian soldiers. On the right was Mt Coote’s shop. In the centre the Catherine Wheel; on the left a cobbler.
