Old Rectory, Elsworth

History of the Rectory

Listed Building

Barn. C17.

The Old Rectory in 19th century and is believed to stand on the site of the medieval rectory. John Watson (1516) invited his friend Erasmus to stay there. It may have been the same house which William Cole described as being  very old and very large when he visited in1745.

A new rectory was built in 1830.
