History of Siloam 217 Cherry Hinton Road

Siloam is first recorded in 1891 as the home of William Crack dairyman. It remains in the hands of dairymen in the following censuses.

Illustrated Police News (16/3/1912) reports that Ernest Churchman, 43, of Raynes Park had been charged with the murder of Emma Churchman, his brother’s widow. After the murder Churchman went to Cambridge where he confessed to the sister of the deceased, Henrietta Matthews. He told her he had ‘done her in’. Constable [Joseph Walter] Housden of Cambridge stated that the accused had wished to give himself up.
