Students of Sankruti School of Dance prepared a dance routine with tea lights either in their online classes or their face to face classes to celebrate Diwali.
Diwali is the Indian festival of lights and one of the most popular Hindu festivals celebrated. Celebrations include lighting of homes with traditional clay diyas (lamps) and colourful rangoli (an artform entailing patterns created on the floor), fireworks and sharing mithai (sweets) and gifts with family and friends.
Around 50 dancers were filmed in at Storey’s Field Centre and some of them had to send their Diwali wishes from their home due to Covid-19. A dance film to celebrate Diwali, which symbolises light overtaking darkness, victory of knowledge over ignorance and good over evil. In the current Covid-19 situation, when social gatherings are best avoided, this was one way to celebrate Diwali for all of us involved in making this film.
