History of Slough Hill Lane

Slough Hill Lane, West Wratting, OS 1885

This lane was once the haunt of the ‘Shug Monkey’, a giant spectral dog with links to Viking myth. It was described as having the body of a large shaggy dog, the face of a monkey with huge eyes.
