Listed building:

House, late C18 or early C19.

Barn, mid C19. Timber framed, weatherboarded and pantiled. Three bays. Two storeys.

Francis Woods, 41, farmer

1847

See Francis Garrett, Cottenham Ablaze:

23.9.1847 fire started at 8pm in the cow lodge of William Watts opposite Red Lion Inn. Fire spread to adjoining farms of Jonathan Piggott and then James Saintey. Buildings in the yard of Francis Woods were pulled down to arrest the fire.

Cottenham and Willingham fire engines, plus those of insurance companies, put the fire out by 2am. Opinion on the cause of the fire was split between those that thought it had been fire started by a candle and those who thought an arsonist.
