74 North Street, Old School House, Burwell

History of the Old School House

The Old School House is the site, or very close to the site of the homes of John Bowers and William Pratt, two of the Burwell Twenty-Five who founded the Burwell Baptist church.

William Pratt was born in 1772 and was at Isleham and Soham Baptist churches. The site of the Burwell Baptist church was bought by Pratt after the death of Mr Shelverton in Burwell. He laid the foundation for the church but then went into decline.
