Margaret Plumb wrote about her family in ‘Catholics in Cambridge’ p219f. Her mother, Ruby Aves, was one of seven, six of whom were baptised at the English Martyrs Catholic church. Ruby and her siblings all went to the St Andrew’s School next to the church. She was once hit by Miss Ormerod on the hand with the cane and Ruby’s mother went to complain.
