These houses were built in 1923 for three families:

Dr M B R Swann There was to have been an extension of these houses up to Waltham Sal but the builder went bankrupt. (CWN 25.11.1982)

(37) Majory Ady moved in with her parents from India. She told the CWN: My father, J F Furnivall, was in the Indian Civil Service. he retired early, having tried to get the Burmese ready for Home Rule. My mother was Burmese. When he retired to Cambridge my father lectured in Burmese history, language and law.

They had bought it from David Knight, the marketing director of Cambridge University press. He had bought it from Richard and Lady Nora David. Richard David was an expert on Shakespeare and sedges.
