An Engine Driver & a Carpenter

1881

Engine driver David Stearn, 50, is head of household in 1881.  David was born in Grantchester and is married to Cambridge-born Jane, 42.  David’s nephew, Arthur Stearn, a 23 year old engine cleaner is boarding with the couple.

1891

In 1891, 69 Kingston Street is not listed on the census, meaning that the house was empty or the occupants elsewhere on the night the census was taken.

1901

By 1901, 69 Kingston Street is home to the Paynes. Louisa Payne, a 31 year old from Soham, is married to Charles Payne, a 28 year old Carpenter.

1911

In 1911, 69 Kingston Street is home to Thomas and Martha Bedford. Martha, a 37 year old from Swaffham Bulbeck, is married to Thomas, a 34 year old Fitter’s Labourer from Fen Drayton.
