Butler’s house and shop, 15 High Street, Little Shelford

History of Butler's house

Built around 1820-30.

On Fanny Wales’s drawing of Shelfords Butler’s house is second from the right.

Circa 1908 Fanny wrote:

Joining Elbourne’s house is the shop and house belonging to Charles butler, the baker. The front door opens into the Chaepl,yard, and the stable yard and bakehouses are behind the house. Mrs Butler was a Speller, her sons, Henry and William, are bakers, and so is her daughter Edith………
