E G Papworth in ‘A Walk Round The Village of Over’ says: “Note the overhanging top storey of this old house, which, with the Poplar Farm Inn, are the only two of this type now left in the village. Note also the typical fish-bone pattern in the gable-end and the cross-board that denotes it was originally thatched. It was built possibly in the 16th century, or even the late 15th, and may have been the village Court House being built on Town Lands.”
