Mrket Mews, back entrances to George and Golden Lion, c1870 (Wisbech Museum)The George was probably on of the oldest inns in Wisbech. Renovations in 1936 revealed a lot of old woodwork. There was a massive carved oak beam used as a mantelpiece, probably from a medieval ship.
