Gustavus Schneider was born 1858 in London. He attended the Gymnasium in Frankfurt before going to Gonville and Caius in 1877. He was ordained in 1882 and was Vice-Principal of Ridley Hall, Cambridge from 1882-3 and 1895-1898, professor of Divinity at Trinity College, Toronto 1883-5, and librarian at Gonville and Caius 1908-1928. He died in 1941. A number of his writings are available as reprints.
