“The Late Mr Samuel Flack – Old Employee of the Great Eastern Railway Company. The funeral of Mr Samuel Flack took place on Monday afternoon at Mill Road Cemetery, Cambridge. Mr Flack, employed as a fitter in the G.E.R Loco. Dept. and had been in the Company’s service for 45 years. He was taken ill at his work a few days ago and was brought home by some of his fellow workmen. He passed away at his home, 160 Sturton Street on Friday morning.
A good number of his workmates attended to pay a last tribute of respect, and his time-keeper and six of his mates met at the house and acted as bearers. There was a large attendance of relatives and friends. The Rev/ Hawtrey May, vicar of St Matthew’s, conducted the service. The coffin was of polished oak, with brass fittings, and bore the following inscription: ‘Samuel Flack, died August 29th, 1919, aged 63 years.'”
