70 Kingston Street

A Carpenter & a Railway Guard

1881

Cambridge-born Joseph J Bailey, a 32 year old carpenter, lives here in 1881 with his wife Susan.  Susan is 23 and was born in Battersea.

1891

In 1891, 70 Kingston Street is home to Susannah Stubbings, a 38 year old from Hampshire. She is married to George Stubbings, a 29 year old Railway Guard from Weston Colville. They have one son, newborn William Stubbings.

1901

By 1901, Susannah Stubbing has sadly passed away, leaving 39 year old George Stubbings as a Widower, and William, now 10, without a mother. However, before she passed, Susannah and George had three more children, G.E., aged 10, George Frances, aged 5, and Violent May, aged 3. George’s 25 year old sister Elizabeth Stubbings has moved in to help him manage after the tragic loss of his four children’s mother.

1911

There is no census entry for 70 Kingston Street in 1911.
