358 High Street, Hart’s Foundry, Cottenham

History of Hart's Foundry

Hart’s Foundry started at 13 Histon Road in Hobson’s House, before moving to The Green in the 1880s. John Hart had come from Barley in Hertfordshire in 1862. Harts did the castings for Charles lack, the local engineering firm, in a tall brick barn at the rear of the property. The foundry closed in 1946. (See Cottenham in Focus, 2002)
