History of Barnwell Community Centre

In 2024 YW sent in this note:

East Barnwell Forget-Me-Not Club started in a barn at the back of Fen Ditton Church (1940s). It moved to Barnwell Community Centre when it opened in 1945 with a membership of 75 plus. The club always opened with a hymn chosen by a member, the Lord’s Prayer and any matter discussed. This would be followed by card games, dominoes, bingo etc. followed by tea and other refreshments. Daytrips to Chivers, Cadbury’s World, Fray Bentos, London Ice Show, Pantomine in Norwich. Once a year a Xmas party with cooked meal at the club, party games and a gift of a Christmas pudding. Mrs Dorothy Pilsworth joined in 1980 with her husband Christie and took the club over on Mrs Reads retirement 1992 until 2003.
