George Simcox, 18, independent. George Simcox was a student at Trinity College who was ordained in 1849.

William Hall was baptised at St Michael’s Cambridge, son of Richard Hall and Dorothy née Atherton. Richard was from St Michael’s parish and he married Dorothy at St Mary the Great October 14 1784. Richard died in 1836 and was buried at St Mary the Less; Dorothy in 1840.

In 1817 we read in the Cambridge Chronicle May 16th 1817 that William Hall had dissolved his brewing partnership with Elias Shippey.

William married Charlotte at Holy Trinity December 2nd 1819. The witnesses were his elder brother Henry Hall who had married Charlotte’s elder sister Maria Mann in 1814. They had six children all born in Magdalene Street where William was a ‘common brewer.’ Charlotte was the daughter of Thomas Prior of the Angel Inn and who had been butler at Jesus College.

In 1826 William sold off some brewing equipment.

In 1841 the family are at Radegund Buildings.

William appears in the press in 1846 as a creditor (£11) of Robert Newman of Haslingfield. William Hall’s accounts for 1836-1846 can be found in the Cambridgeshire Archives. It seems that there financial problems and he handed his affairs over to his son-in-law Richard Harris and a William Beart in 1846.

William died at Fenstanton 1st May 1850 attended by his son Thomas, a surgeon.

In the 1851 census Charlotte was living at Church End, Fenstanton.
