1867

Opening of Jesus Lane Sunday School on Paradise Street, Cambridge

J A Charles in ‘One man’s Cambridge’ p27 discusses the early history of the school. He suggests that it may have been the first High Grade (i.e. non-grammar secondary school) in England.


1894

John Henry Victor Charles enrolled in the school when almost 7. He had previously been educated by a Miss Sanders.


1896

The school bought an incandescent gas lantern with over 300 slides to improve teaching.
