History of 4 Parker Street

1913:

Albert Maile

1916:

Harold Edgar Cocks

In 1931 Harold became landlord of the The Crown in Hills Road. The 2018 history of the pub, ‘A Disorderly House’, says that Harold had previously been a motor mechanic and dealer of motor vehicles. This meant that during the Great War his employers could successfully apply for an exemption from the call-up. The case was reported in the press:

7/7/1916 Cambridge Independent Press

1962:

Charles Rooke
