History of the Victoria Bridge, Cambridge

Victoria Road Bridge 1928 (Cambridge Collection)

In 1889 the River Cam Bridge Act laid down minimum standards for future bridges and in 1890 John Webster’s Victoria Road bridge was built. Sara Payne (CWN 30.4.1981) describes the circumstances surrounding the opening of the bridge in detail.
